The 1897 Society
1897 marked a pivotal moment in Washington County history.
It was then that a group of local visionaries united to address our county’s healthcare needs by creating a hospital in the county seat, thereby changing the regional landscape through both the centralization of services and economic opportunity.
Today, that rich tradition continues through the 1897 Society, a group of philanthropic leaders who are committed to shaping the future of health and wellness in Washington and Greene County.
Membership Eligibility
Membership in the 1897 Society is open to individuals, families, and corporations who make or pledge a gift of at least $10,000 to the Washington Greene Health Foundation that is fully realized within a three-year period. Gifts may be fulfilled using a variety of vehicles, including but not limited to cash, appreciated securities/stock, qualified charitable distributions from an IRA, or even real estate.

Participate in exclusive education opportunities, both in-person and online. Behind-the-scenes tours offer a new perspective on how local health and wellness needs are being addressed. Our new “Give SMART and with Heart” webinar series for donors, which highlights planned giving strategies and philanthropic trends, is led by local professional advisors.

Join like-minded individuals for social opportunities, such as our annual dinner, in unique, intimate settings.
Recognition
recognized as an 1897 Society Member at events, on our website, in print and digital publications, as well as on social media. There are also opportunities for members to be featured in special member spotlights. Donors are welcome to offer their support anonymously if they so choose.
