Community Grantmaking
The Washington Greene Health Foundation (WGHF) is proud to have launched its Community Grantmaking program in 2026, supporting local organizations working to improve health and well-being across Washington and Greene Counties. Long recognized for our strong partnership with and support of UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene, WGHF is excited to expand our impact by investing directly in community-based health and wellness initiatives.
Our Pilot Grant Cycle (Spring 2026)
In our inaugural grant cycle, WGHF awarded:
- Over $100,000 in funding distributed
- 23 nonprofit grantee organizations
- Supporting initiatives in food security, behavioral health, maternal and family health, disability services, and community wellness
This pilot cycle marks the beginning of WGHF’s long-term commitment to investing in community-driven solutions.
What's Next
Recurring Grant Cycles (Beginning 2027):
Spring and Fall grant cycles will provide regular funding opportunities.
Sponsorship Opportunities (Coming Later in 2026):
Support for events and initiatives aligned with WGHF’s mission.
Critical Needs Fund (Coming Later in 2026):
Flexible funding to respond to urgent or emerging community health needs.
Community Partner Engagement
Annual Convening (Q4 2026):
A gathering of grantees, partners, and stakeholders to share insights and strengthen collaboration.
Ongoing Engagement:
WGHF is committed to relationship-building through communication, learning opportunities, and dialogue.
Grant Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for funding from the Washington Greene Health Foundation (WGHF), applicants must meet the following criteria:
Nonprofit Status
The organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Please note: WGHF does not currently accept applications from booster clubs or fiscally sponsored organizations.
Use of Funds
Funded programs must not engage in political or for-profit activities. Programs may not promote or require participation in religious (sectarian) activities, and services must be open to all and not conditioned on religious belief.
Geographic Focus
Programs and services must benefit residents of Washington and/or Greene County, Pennsylvania.
Alignment with Priorities
The proposed project must align with WGHF’s strategic focus areas.
